Our History
Need for Christian Literature
The need for Christian Literature is as pressing now as it has always been. The Anglican Church of Kenya identified this need in 1974 and set up a company that would publish Christian literature, to assist in spreading the Gospel of Jesus Christ.
Legal Framework

In the meeting of the Provincial Literature Board held in Nairobi in October, 1974, it was resolved that Uzima Press be incorporated as a company limited by guarantee. Uzima Publishing House was consequently registered in 1974 under the companies Act (Cap. 486) as Company Limited by guarantee and not having a share capital. So as to define its mission better Uzima Press changed its name to Uzima Publishing House on 3rd December 2004.

The Current Situation

Uzima Publishing House is a publisher and distributor of Christian Literature. The offices are situated at Imani House in Nairobi, Kenya and located in the central business district, and so are easily accessible to customers.

The company is headed by a Board of Directors and assisted by the General Manager, who is the chief executive of the company, together with a Management team consisting of an Editorial Manager, Sales and Marketing Manager and Finance Manager.

Since its inception, over 250 titles have been published of which worship and family life books have made the greatest impact. Many of these titles are reprinted annually due to high demand, while those that have been fully utilised are taken off the list.

Authorship
The publishing house attracts many writers who submit over 30 unsolicited manuscripts annually while the company seeks to develop her own authors through writer-training workshops.
Product Lines
The present product lines comprise Worship Books, Bible Study Guides, Family Life, Social Life, Text Books, Christian Education. Autobiographies/Biographies and Children’s Story books. This is in addition to three annual publications: Church Pocket book and Diary, ACK Calendar and Taratibu ya Masomo (Kiswahili Lectionary).
Distribution
Books are distributed through bookshops and book agents in different parts of Kenya, Uganda and Tanzania. Beginning AD 2002 Uzima Publishing House began to distribute books in the Southern and Western African nations as well as Europe and the USA through well established book agents and internet sales.

General Manager Mrs. Phoebe Mugo ensures that company objectives are met.

The Administration team Isaac, Josephine (Dept head) and Patrick prepare for a meeting.

The production team Amos (Dept head), Mary and Enoch prepare a manuscript for the press.
