The next Provost: A profile of the Rev. Canon Evans Omollo

The Rev. Canon has been announced as the next provost of the All Saints Cathedral, Nairobi. Canon Evans, who until recently was the Assistant Provost -before briefly acting as Provost, will take over from the Very Rev. Dr. Sammy Wainaina whose full term as Provost expired. Canon Evans holds a Higher Diploma in Theology from Carlile College (2004), a BA in Cross-Cultural Mission (2008), and MA in Mission (2009) both from All Nations Christian College (UK). He is currently pursuing his doctoral studies at St Paul’s University, Limuru.

Canon Evans was made a deacon in 2004 and ordained a priest in 2005 in the Anglican Diocese of Bondo.  He previously served as a Parish Priest in the Anglican Church of Kenya Diocese of Bondo and a lecturer at Bishop Okullu College of Theology and Development. He was then appointed as the Provincial (National) Mission Director for the Anglican Church of Kenya in March 2011. He served in this position for 5 years before being appointed as the Assistant Provost at the All Saints Cathedral (August 2016).

As the assistant provost, he also served as the worship minister (Sep 2016 – Jul 2022) and Leadership Department Minister (July 2022- June 2023). In this role, he supported and coordinated the implementation of the cathedral’s strategic Ministry direction. He is a member of the Aga Khan University Institutional Scientific Research and Ethics Committee (ISERC) Kenya.

Canon Evans is Married to Dr. Selina Omollo and is blessed with Children.
