ACK Diocese of Kitale

Diocese of Kitale

The Diocese traces its formations from the Diocese of Eldoret. In 1997, the Diocese of Eldoret was split to create the Diocese of Kitale. The Rt. Rev. Stephen Kewasis Nyorsok, who had been until then the Bishop of Eldoret, moved to head the new Diocese. The Rt. Rev. Samson Tuliapus was on the 12th of November 2017 consecrated as the Assistant Bishop in Charge of the Kapenguria Area Bishopric. The Diocese serves the administrative counties of Trans Nzoia, West Pokot and parts of Bungoma, Turkana and Elgeiyo Marakwet counties. There are 38 parishes making up the 7 archdeaconries serving the Diocese. Bishop Kewasis retired in 2018 and was succeeded by the Rt. Rev. Dr. Emmanuel Chemengich.
