Diocese of Southern Nyanza
This Diocese was created in 1993 by subdivision of the Diocese of Maseno South with about 10,000 members served by 16 clergy in 14 parishes. The Rt. Rev. Haggai Nyang’, formerly Assistant Bishop in the Diocese of Maseno South, was the first Bishop. Its Headquarters are in HomaBay. Bishop Nyang’ retired in 2002 and The Rt. Rev. James K.O. Ochiel elected as Bishop, becoming the second Bishop of the Diocese. Bishop Ochiel retired in 2019, and was succeeded by the Rt. Simon Onyango. On the 14th of February 2016, The Rt. Rev John Orina Omangi was consecrated as the Suffragan Bishop in charge of Kisii Area Bishopric.
