The Rt. Rev. Ernest Ng’eno from the ACK Diocese of Kericho, who was also the retreat Master, delivered the sermon. His encouragement was on servant leadership, sharing on attributes of servanthood models drawn from Christianity.

“As we serve, think about the welfare of the people. Servant leaders touch the lives of others by empowering them, and being good stewards”

Bishop Kabiru thanked the Christians for the “trust bestowed upon me by the Anglican Diocese of Nairobi.”

Accepting the new mandate, the Bishop invited Christians to work with him “in shepherding the Diocese into a future where we embrace transformation, spiritual renewal, and societal impact. The Lord has appointed us at a time like this so that we can join hands in shaping our society,” he added.

In His Charge, he outlined his ministry focus areas in:

  • Mission, evangelism and spiritual growth
  • Welfare, health and well-being of clergy and laity
  • Governance, leadership and policy development
  • Education, research, training and advocacy
  • Information, technology and communication
  • Resource mobilization and development

Created in 1964, ACK Nairobi Diocese has been served by 7 Bishops. In 2002, the Diocese was split to create the ACK Diocese of All Saints Cathedral. Prior, the All Saints, Nairobi was the Diocesan Cathedral. After the split, St. Stephens Jogoo Road was designated the new Diocesan Cathedral. Bishop Kabiru therefore becomes the 3rd Bishop consecrated and enthroned under the St. Stephen’s Cathedral, as well as the 3rd Diocesan Bishop under this arrangement.
